Michael Walker, Data Analyst
Michael Walker is the Director of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University, having joined the Institute as a research scientist in 2000. He has extensive experience in research design and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and has been the lead researcher for more than 200 survey research projects, as well as numerous focus groups and strategic planning efforts. Mr. Walker specializes in survey research design, instrument construction, project management, data analysis, and report writing. His primary focus is applied research – providing practical information to local government officials and community leaders to facilitate effective decision-making. Mr. Walker received a master’s degree in sociology from Utah State University. He also teaches for the department of sociology. His courses have included research methods, community development, urban and rural sociology, demography, and environmental sociology. Mr. Walker uses real world experiences in the classroom and applies academic knowledge to his research endeavors.
