Funding Opportunities

Want to be apart of the NIH K-Inbre at K-State? There are two main classification of potential funding sources for you. Below is general information about each one, click to download the application form, and submit your forms directly via email to the program coordinator Dr. Sherry Flemming sdflemin@ksu.edu.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

K-State Scholars: (formerly called Freshman Scholars) These students, freshman to sophmores generally, will be expected to commit 300 hr to research activities during their year, participate in KSU K-INBRE scholar’s meeting (the last Wednesday of each academic month), and present their research at the annual K-INBRE symposium held on the Martin Luther King weekend in January 2025.

Semester Scholars: This program is for current undergraduate students (any year in school) that are interested in biomedical research.

Star Trainee Scholars: The K-INBRE “Star Trainee Program” is designed to identify outstanding prospective biomedical researchers during their junior year in college, and provide financial support during the senior year. This capstone program will support students with extensive research experience (minimum of 3 semesters of research experience- not classroom labs).

SEMESTER AND OTHER DEPENDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

Langston University Scholars: These awards for for Langston University students only. Please email Dr. Sherry Flemming for more information if interested.

Entrepreneurship Scholars: This program has been developed in collaboration with the KUMC Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation (IAMI), which brings together philanthropy, industry and universities to collaborate in advancing university innovations in life sciences.

Bioinformatic Scholars: This program is for current undergraduate students (any year in school) that are interested in biomedical research.
