Overview and Expansion
OUR MISSION |
OUR CHALLENGE |
OUR APPROACH |
---|---|---|
Kansas State College Advising Corps (KSCAC) empowers low-income and underrepresented high school students to go to college. Every student deserves the chance to pursue higher education and economic mobility. |
Kansas needs the talents and energies of every young mind. Two-thirds of all jobs require a postsecondary credential, yet too few young people realize their potential. Our communities depend on expanding economic opportunity for all. |
We place recent college graduates in partner high schools as full-time college advisers. We work alongside school staff to ensure every senior has a plan. Using a data-driven model, the advisers tailor opportunities to help students identify their best postsecondary pathway. |
Advisers work with students to design pathways that align with their goals. The pathway might include a two-year or four-year degree, a technical/workforce credential or military service. |
47,953 one-on-one advising sessions held with 24,148 seniors |
13,117 seniors supported with the completion of the FAFSA |
48,811 college applications submitted with adviser help |
$369.3M secured in institutional aid and competitive scholarships |
OUR GOAL IN KANSAS |
We believe every student deserves the opportunity to enter and complete postsecondary education. |

EXPANDING IN KANSAS
Our growing presence in the state supports urban, rural and suburban schools in creating pathways to postsecondary education. Over the next five years, KSCAC will expand into new areas — prioritizing communities with the greatest need.
INVESTING IN COMMUNITIES
Workforce KSCAC addresses the economic needs of our state by preparing the future workforce. This early investment ensures that young people have the tools, resources and services they need to achieve financial stability. |
|
Education KSCAC helps high schools meet accreditation standards by providing full-time advisers to work alongside school staff. We collaborate with postsecondary institutions to promote the best fit for high school students in fulfilling their postsecondary plans. |
|
Community Investment Our funding model shares the costs between local, state and private funding. By making an early investment in young people, KSCAC helps ensure that students, schools and communities throughout Kansas benefit from the value and impact of its advisers. |

Walter Zemanick |
"We are impressed that KSCAC works alongside high school counselors, administrators and teachers in helping students in finding their best-fit postsecondary pathway." |
Randy Watson |
"Our College Adviser plays such a crucial role in supporting our student and their families at South. Having an adviser who can solely focus on the college admissions process has been invaluable for our students as well as our parents, especially those who have not experienced the college-going process themselves." |
