Amateur Radio Club (WØQQQ)

A century of service to
K-State and beyond

Housed in Seaton Hall, K-State's Amateur Radio Club (WØQQQ) has connected students to amateur radio since 1927, providing coverage of the Manhattan, KS area and building global connections through digital and analog radio.

WØQQQ promotes radio education through workshops, licensing opportunities and curriculum support, represents K-State in regional and worldwide operating events, and provides weather and emergency services to K-State and the surrounding community in coordination with the Office of the Kansas State Climatologist and the university’s Office of Emergency Management.

Membership is open to all K-State students, faculty, staff and the general public. No amateur radio license is required, and individuals new to the hobby are welcome regardless of experience level. Meetings are held weekly at 12 p.m. on Sundays in 401 Seaton Hall.

Events

Amateur Radio is built on community, and our events bring that community together. WØQQQ hosts weekly club meetings, on-air educational emergency nets, and participates in collegiate and regional competitions. We also offer open licensing sessions to help anyone interested in entering the hobby and support programs where licensed operators play a critical role.

• Weekly Meetings
  Club Meeting, 4001 Seaton Hall - Sundays from 12-2 PM
  

  • Our station is the only room on Seaton Hall's 4th floor. Use the southwest stairway (across from Ahearn Field House) or take the nearby elevator to 3rd and the final flight to the station. The door will be open when we're in the room.

• Contests and Activities

  WØQQQ members take part in local, national, and worldwide radio operating events, representing K-State while building technical skills, teamwork, and collegiate sportspersonship.

• Amateur Radio License Testing

  In the United States, anyone may listen to amateur radio communications, but transmitting requires a license from the FCC. Learn more about what’s involved in preparing for your Amateur Radio license. WØQQQ hosts testing sessions to help when you're ready to take the next step!
