Confucius Institute offers series of Chinese culture classes for K-Staters, Manhattan community

The Confucius Institute is offering a series of one-hour Chinese culture classes this semester. These classes will give participants a chance to explore Chinese ink painting, paper-cutting, origami, calligraphy, tai chi, opera mask painting and more. 

Classes are free and open to anyone at K-State and the greater Manhattan community. Those interested may sign up for any number of classes. Seats for each class are limited, so please RSVP online

The following classes will be at 3-4 p.m. in 1063 Seaton Hall on Fridays, except the tai chi class, which will be on the Quad near Waters Hall:

  • March 16: Paper-cutting(剪纸)
  • March 30: Origami(折纸)
  • April 6: Ink blowing craft on a paper plate(水墨吹梅花)
  • April 13: Chinese tic-tac-toe(五子棋)
  • April 20: Opera mask painting(画脸谱)
  • April 27: Panda painting (水墨画熊猫)
  • May 4: Tai chi(太极拳)
  • May 11: Chinese knot-making (中国结)
  • May 18: Shuttlecock(踢毽子)
  • May 25: Chinese calligraphy(书法)
  • June 1:Singing Chinese songs(唱歌)
  • June 8:Chinese knife painting(刀画)
