School of Music, Theatre, and Dance hosts second recorder workshop

Submitted by Blakely Bunning

The K-State School of Music, Theatre and Dance welcomed recorder players from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Illinois for the second K-State Recorder Workshop on Saturday, March 30. Participants were led through a full day of instruction, including techniques sessions and ensemble playing.

Clinicians for the workshop were Anne Timberlake, a professional recorder player and educator from St. Louis, Missouri, and David Wood, instructor of music at K-State and director of K-State's early music ensembles.

Additionally, Timberlake worked with members of the K-State and Manhattan communities on Friday, March 29, holding a seminar on research-based principles for practice, Baroque style masterclass and individual lessons. The workshop activities and Timberlake’s visit were supported in part through a partnership with the K-State student chapter of the National Association for Music Education and Student Governing Association.

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Visit www.k-state.edu/mtd to learn more about MTD at K-State.
