Chapman Center research interns present on rural topics
Two undergraduate research interns in the Chapman Center for Rural Studies have shared their research at conferences this semester.
Ethan Levin, history major, presented his research on aviation pioneer Clyde Cessna and how his 40-acre farm in Rago, Kansas, shaped his legacy. Levin participated in the Kansas Association of Historians conference March 29-30 as well as the K-State Undergraduate Research Conference sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry hosted April 14.
Ethan McCary, history major, also presented at the Kansas Association of Historians. McCary's research provides a historical and reflexive look at Kansas and its relationship with the Vietnam War, told through the lens of oral histories he has collected.
Both Levin and McCary will present their research at the Chapman Center for Rural Studies Research Intern showcase, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in 111 Leasure Hall.
The Chapman Center for Rural Studies, a Center of Excellence in the College of Arts and Sciences, offers research internships each semester up to $2,000 to undergraduates interested in multidisciplinary research in rural topics.
