K-State Concert Choir to perform at national conference
On Sunday, Nov. 3, members of the Kansas State University Concert Choir, directed by Joshua Oppenheim, packed their bags and began a journey to the National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference in College Park, Maryland. After a rigorous peer-reviewed audition process, Concert Choir was one of nine choirs from the United States chosen to perform.
Along the way, Concert Choir will visit several high schools in Kansas as part of their recruiting tour and will perform parts of their program.
In addition to their tour, Concert Choir will present its National Conference program in Kansas City. They will perform a joint concert with Blue Valley North High School, directed by Jason Sickel; Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, directed by Cassie Banion; and Blue Valley Northwest High School, directed by Beth Richey-Sullivan, high schools. This concert will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish in Leawood and is free to the public.
Concert Choir will perform its program at the National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference on Saturday, Nov. 9, which will feature music by internationally celebrated and prizewinning composer, Owain Park.
