Annual crime disclosure distributed to Clery mandated reporters

Developing and maintaining a safe and secure campus environment is the responsibility of the entire K-State community, not just individuals with distinct reporting obligations such as campus security authorities, or CSAs.
The term "campus security authority" refers to an individual who, because of their function for the university, has an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the university of alleged Clery crimes. This federal law applies to most public and private universities and is tied directly to federal funding of various kinds, including federal student aid. For this and other reasons, it is imperative that K-State and individuals associated with the university comply with the conditions set forth by the Clery Act. As such, a comprehensive training has been developed to increase awareness and educate individuals about resources and reporting processes across the university. Campus security authorities are required to complete their training annually.
Likewise, all K-State campus security authorities are expected to complete an annual online survey to disclose any crime information that is alleged to have occurred on campus, in public areas bordering the campus, or in a designated off-campus building owned or controlled by the university, per the Clery Act Designation and Reporting Policy, PPM 3110. The survey distribution for the 2020 calendar year will be disseminated during the week of Jan. 13; individuals will have until Feb. 14 to complete their crime disclosure survey.
The survey will be distributed to K-State email accounts through the university's secure survey platform, Qualtrics. To ensure receipt of the training, CSAs are encouraged to check both their junk and clutter folders.
As a reminder, K-State continues to sponsor various initiatives to increase awareness, educate and provide resources relating to individual and university obligations under the Clery Act. One of these initiatives is the REPORT It webpage, a convenient global reporting website where reports related to Clery Act crimes; academic violations; code of conduct violations; students of concern; discrimination, harassment, including sexual harassment. Work-related incidents, access barriers, and incidents involving a minor also may be submitted.
