Kansas Board of Regents meeting university updates

The Kansas Board of Regents meeting on Feb. 19 included several items related to Kansas State University. For more information on these items, see the February meeting agenda items announcement

Introduction and reports

President Richard Myers shared university news with the board including, awards for cybersecurity, research efforts; 2019 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award recipient; K-State named top employer by DiversityJobs.com; 2020 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification; the naming of the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering; the 2019 World Champions Horse Judging Team; 2019 National Championship Crops Team; and K-State's 15th Marshall Scholar Clara Wicoff

Consent agenda 

The Regents approved K-State's academic year 2018 performance report. K-State qualifies for 100 percent of any new funding for which it is eligible because the university maintained the baseline or improved from the baseline in at least four indicators. 

K-State received approval to raze the swine gestation/breeding barn at the Swine Research Center. 

Discussion agenda 

Blake Flanders, president and CEO of the Kansas Board of Regents, presented the final Foresight 2020 progress report. 

The Regents received information on a predictive model for Kansas high school graduates. 

The Regents approved the student health insurance benefits and premium rates for plan year 2020-2021.  

K-State received approval to charge a reduced out-of-state tuition rate that is 150% of the resident tuition rate to full-time domestic undergraduate students from Michigan.
