University operations organizational updates
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are doing well and settling into this unusual fall semester. Over the summer, my office relocated from Anderson Hall to 109 Dykstra Hall along with the risk and compliance office that includes Elliot Young, assistant vice president for risk and compliance, the emergency management coordinator, and the Clery compliance coordinator. An internal search for my executive assistant was completed in August. I'm excited to announce that Angela Patrick was selected and joined us on Aug. 24. Angela previously worked as a paralegal in the Office of General Counsel. Tara Fronce is now the executive assistant to the chief financial officer and I wish Tara all the best in her new role.
Recruitment to fill the Clery coordinator position is currently underway. After a failed search this summer, a new search will start soon for the emergency management coordinator position.
The associate vice president for facilities position was eliminated as part of the FY 2021 general use base budget reductions. Division of Facilities is co-led by Casey Lauer, assistant vice president, and Diana Hutchison, director/university architect. Lauer is responsible for operations, which include building maintenance, custodial services, grounds, motor pool, recycling, postal center, storeroom, power plant and utilities, and veterinary medicine facilities. Hutchison leads the campus planning and project management department and is responsible for construction projects on campus.
The painting and moving hauling services provided by Facilities have been discontinued and impacted employees have been reassigned to vacant positions through the university layoff process. Please contact facilities customer service at 785-532- 6389 if you have a need for painting and moving and hauling services. On-call contractors are available to provide these services for university departments.
