Moorberg, Lindshield and Finkeldei to present 'Canvas Tips and Tricks'

Colby Moorberg, assistant professor of agronomy; Brian Lindshield, associate professor of food, nutrition, dietetics and health; and Scott Finkeldei, director for academic and student technology, will present "Canvas Tips and Tricks" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, on Zoom.
The rising cost of textbooks has become a significant barrier to a college education. The use of alternative readings that leverage free and credible online resources is one approach to eliminating the need for traditional textbooks. A virtual tour of Canvas pages will be presented for two college courses that use alternative readings in place of a traditional textbook. Strategies for encouraging students to complete the assigned readings will be described. The use of OER-enabled pedagogy for developing an open textbook will also be discussed.
