Lafene Health Center completes first COVID-19 vaccine clinic

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Lafene Health Center, in partnership with Housing and Dining Services and Recreational Services, administered 870 vaccines to Kansas State University faculty, staff and students at its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic. This included persons from the Manhattan, Polytechnic and Olathe campuses. Those eligible met the criteria for phase 1 or 2 of the state vaccination plan

"We had a very successful vaccination clinic on Friday," said Jim Parker, director of Lafene Health Center. "With mass vaccine clinics, such as occurred on Friday, we will quickly move from phase 2 to phase 3 of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's vaccine distribution plan. This is a large and important undertaking to help keep every Wildcat a Wellcat."

All current K-State students, faculty and staff interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, are encouraged to complete the Lafene interest survey in the myLafene+ patient portal. You can also request a vaccine from the county where you live.

Future vaccination clinics will be set when vaccines are received from the county. Announcements will be made through K-State Today and those eligible for the clinic will receive an email invitation to schedule an appointment.

More information about the COVID-19 vaccine and a list of frequently asked questions can be found on the K-State COVID-19 vaccine information website.
