'Grant Opportunities at the National Endowment for the Humanities and Application Writing Tips' session

Submitted by Katie Kingery-Page

K-State's Office of Research Development will host a web-based learning session with the National Endowment for the Humanities open to all interested researchers from 1-2:30 p.m. CDT Thursday, March 18. All researchers interested in humanities questions or humanities methods are welcome, including from the social sciences and the sciences.

The session will be led by Claudia Kinkela, senior program officer in the National Endowment for the Humanities' Division of Research. In this learning session, Kinkela will present broadly on research funding opportunities through the National Endowment for the Humanities, funding priorities and strategies for submitting a successful proposal. The session will include time for questions and answers with Kinkela.

Kinkela has been coordinating the fellowships program for the past 11 years and has worked with other programs in that division — Public Scholars, Summer Stipends, Collaborative Research, Documenting Endangered Languages Program. Kinkela is a political scientist by training and received her doctorate in her native Germany, from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, in 1998. Before coming to NEH in 2008, she taught at Duke University, Georgetown University, and American University. Her fields of research include political theory and political philosophy, especially Aristotle, Machiavelli, and Hannah Arendt; her broader interests include German politics and European history.
