Huck Boyd Institute commends President Myers

The board of directors of the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development recently unanimously adopted a resolution commending President Myers for his service to the university and to the nation, and wishing him well on his retirement. Here is the text:

Resolution of Commendation
for President Richard B. Myers

Whereas, Richard B. Myers has announced his intention to retire as President of Kansas State University at the end of calendar year 2021; and

Whereas, Richard B. Myers is a native Kansan who earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University and joined the Air Force through K-State's ROTC program, received a master's degree in business administration from Auburn University, graduated from Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; and

Whereas, Richard B. Myers has served his nation with patriotism and valor, having logged more than 4,100 flying hours, including 600 combat hours, and retired as a four-star general, having received the Legion of Merit, French Legion of Honor, and Presidential Medal of Freedom among many other honors; and

Whereas, Richard B. Myers has provided outstanding leadership to Kansas State University through his service as President in extraordinarily challenging times, and also previously serving as co-chair of the Kansas State University Innovation and Inspiration Campaign, which raised $1.6 billion for the university; and

Whereas, Richard B. Myers has assisted with the Huck Boyd Institute’s celebration of its 30 year anniversary and has provided caring, committed, visionary leadership for higher education and the state of Kansas;

Therefore, we, the Board of Directors of the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development, do highly commend President Richard B. Myers for his leadership and service and extend to he and Mary Jo our very best wishes for a happy, healthy, and productive retirement.
