Kansas 4-H Selected to Implement Ag Innovators Experience
Kansas 4-H was selected as a 2022 4-H Ag Innovators Experience (AIE) Implementation LGU. This year's experience will drive youth awareness of, and interest in, agriculture innovation and agriculture careers through the "Unlock Ag Innovations Challenge". This educational experience will focus on the understanding of how converging innovation in seed genetics, biologics, crop protection, digital tools, precision equipment and agronomic practices is making more systems based solutions possible for farmers, allowing them to overcome unpredictable challenges to provide for a more resilient global food system. The activity has an agricultural basis that incorporates STEM skills, teamwork, communication and workforce development.
Twenty teen leaders will be selected to implement the AIE, reaching 1,000 Kansas youth. The West Plains Extension District will serve as the primary implementation site, with additional teen leaders selected to implement the challenge in their local units. Youth application information and program dates will be released to local staff soon. We ask that agents begin considering youth from their local programs who have an interest in advancing agricultural literacy and sharing their leadership skills.
