K-Staters asked to provide input to city of Manhattan by completing a housing survey

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Late last year, the city of Manhattan completed the development of a five-year strategic plan that will guide government leaders in prioritizing city services, programs, projects and future investments to help make the community a great place to live and work for all Manhattan residents.

As one of the largest employers in the city, and because of the sizeable student population, K-State has a significant impact on the community and was engaged in the city's strategic planning process by providing valuable input from faculty, staff and students.

One of the next steps in the city's five-year plan includes a housing market analysis to better understand housing conditions and needs for the broadest possible cross-section of Manhattan residents.

"Local housing availability impacts everyone and plays a role in our overall faculty, staff and student recruiting efforts," said Kevin Nalette, K-State's interim chief of staff and director of community relations. "We'd like to encourage K-State faculty, staff and students to help the city in planning for future housing needs by completing the survey."

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete, will ask a series of questions about the participants housing experiences, preferences and challenges, and will complement additional learnings the city is collecting through secondary data sources. All responses will be anonymous.

Faculty, staff and student input will help the city in its planning process to better meet the community's overall housing needs.
