Weekly global religious, spiritual and nonreligious observance information

Submitted by Stefan Yates

The President's Committee on Religion, Spirituality and Nonreligious Diversity presents the global observance information for March 21-27.

March 21, Naw-Ruz Baha’I — This is a Baha’i Day of God celebration and was adopted from the Zoroastrian new year celebrated in Iran for hundreds of years. The faithful must not work on this day and while there are no rules for how to celebrate, it is commonplace to gather and eat a special meal. Decorations include colored eggs and fruit, and celebrants may wear new or clean clothes. Learn more at religionfacts.com/naw-ruz.

March 24, The Annunciation: Christianity — This day in the Christian religion is when the Angel Gabriel announced that Mary would become the mother of Jesus.

The President's Committee on Religious, Spiritual and Nonreligious Diversity welcomes those of all global religious, spiritual and nonreligious commitments. Further, we welcome any suggestions, questions or other comments. Please contact the chair, Bev Earles, at earles@k-state.edu.
