Powercat Financial has selected new peer financial counselors for the 2022-2023 year. Peer financial counselors assist students with their financial well-being and college financial planning decisions, provide free financial workshops and events for students and have the opportunity to be a Meritrust Credit Union scholar. This unique on-campus internship opportunity is for students studying in financial-related programs such as personal financial planning, business finance, accounting, family and consumer economics education, agribusiness and economics.

The following students will serve as new peer financial counselors:

Jaden Blansett, graduate assistant, Holcomb; Chet Redstone, Overland Park; Brenton Wilden, Gardner; Xander Say, Andrew Scott and Jackson Harvey, Manhattan; Halle Schindler, Paola; Quinton Vlach, Bonner Springs; Katy Mulqueen and Isaiah Wilson, Topeka; Daniel Hensarling, Olathe; and Aidan Siefkes, Stilwell.

From out of state and country: Michael Pumphrey, Bellaire, Texas; and  Solomon Idan, Amosima, Ghana.

The following students are returning peer financial counselors:
Eli McDonald, graduate assistant, Overland Park; Dylan Birkinsha, Atchison; Kolby Stein, Spearville; Abram Mugler, Manhattan; and R.J. Salmen, Lenexa.

Eleven additional students will join Powercat Financial's Student Advisory Board to support the mission of increasing students’ financial well-being. The board is responsible for connecting students with the financial services of Powercat Financial and hosting interactive financial events throughout the year and programming around financial wellness initiatives. Powercat Financial continues to recruit students to join the Student Advisory Board with applications available online at k-state.edu/powercatfinancial/about/opportunities.html and is seeking students from diverse backgrounds of academic majors from each college.
