What is K-State Today?

A new academic year brings many new faces to campus. You might be wondering why you are receiving a daily email from the university and why there are so many announcements, but bear with us, you never know when you'll be able to say, "Didn't you know? Gee, it was in K-State Today!" 

The K-State Today e-newsletter is distributed every work day and coordinated by the Division of Communications and Marketing. There are two versions of the e-newsletter: K-State Today for faculty/staff and K-State Today Student Edition. Users are automatically added to the appropriate K-State Today email listserv with their eID and cannot be unsubscribed. 

We need your news!
K-State Today is a crowdsourced publication. Faculty, staff and students can submit announcements pertaining to Kansas State University using the online contribute form. Announcements are reviewed and edited to follow university style. It is recommended to keep submissions brief, under 300 words; and long headlines will be shortened. 

What is published?
View the categories and descriptions by selecting a publication on the contribute form. Some frequently published announcements include:  

• Letters from the president, provost and university administration.
• Campus events.
• An accomplishment related to an employee's career or a student's program of study.
• New or noteworthy information about recent topics and research.
• Memorial service information for current K-Staters or those with emeritus status, submitted by the related unit.
• Feature stories and helpful university services.

What is not accepted for publication?
K-State Today does not publish announcements such as:

• External full-time positions, student jobs or internship opportunities.
• Off-campus or unaffiliated university events or campaigns.
• Opinion-based or letters to the editor.
• Statements to support or oppose political parties or causes as outlined in PPM 3095.
• Where K-Staters have appeared in the news — these are published on the news clips page.

In addition to the university community, local media also receive K-State Today. The daily e-newsletter is published to the K-State Today webpage.
