Upcoming panel discussion on social media's role in the next-generation land-grant university

Submitted by Mirna Bonilla

The Office of Engagement invites you to participate in K-State’s Social Media Week with a panel discussion on social media's potential role in K-State's new strategic plan to become a next-generation land-grant university. The event is open to the K-State community and will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Town Hall in the Leadership Studies Building.

On the heels of recent regional community visits around the state regarding the university's strategic plan and "operating as a future-focused, inclusive and connected community that inspires discovery, creates prosperity, impacts society and transforms lives ...," campus leaders and community members will talk about the opportunities that exist in social media and social media's role in education, collaboration, extension, research and more. During the second half of the event, we'll transition to a roundtable format for audience members to contribute their perspectives and ideas to the discussion.

Panelists include:

  • David Rosowsky, vice president for research.
  • Joe Mocnik, dean of K-State Libraries.
  • Sam Mwangi, professor of media and communication, director of the Huck Boyd National Center for Community Media.
  • Colene Lind, associate professor of media and communication, director of the Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy.
  • Lindley Lund, social media specialist, Division of Communications and Marketing.

Visit the Social Media Week website for additional details or contact the Office of Engagement at ooengage@k-state.edu for questions.
