Interior architecture and industrial design professor publishes book on housing design

Kutay Güler, renowned interior architecture and industrial design associate professor in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University, has unveiled his latest publication, "Transforming Issues in Housing Design," a groundbreaking exploration of the multifaceted aspects of housing design.

Edited by Güler and published by Wiley, the book provides a comprehensive vision encompassing design, philosophy, psychology, efficiency and constitution of housing.

In "Transforming Issues in Housing Design," Güler delves into the most pressing and relevant challenges surrounding the ongoing transformation of housing design. The book spans 22 chapters, offering insights into the historical and current states of housing design, its evolutionary path to the present and the potential trajectories it may take in the future.

Backed by the expertise of a team comprising 29 global experts, including five from the College of Architecture, Planning & Design: Bob Condia, Michael Gibson, Mariana Junquiera, Byungsoo Kim and Kendra Kirchmer, the book presents cutting-edge research and a diverse collection of examples, shedding light on housing design across the globe.

Güler is recognized for his multi-award-winning contributions to interior architecture. His research uniquely intersects environmental design dynamics and digital tools. Güler has a prolific publication record, with numerous papers in high-impact factor journals such as Computers and Education, Museum Management and Curatorship, and Journal of Simulation. He has authored two previous books, namely "Simulating Visitor Behavior" and "Interior Materiality," in addition to editing a volume titled "Contemporary Issues in Housing Design."

Beyond his academic achievements, Güler has an extensive portfolio, having completed more than 60 commercial and residential interiors, along with numerous other design and visualization projects for an international clientele.
