K-State TRIO Educational Supportive Services welcomes Dylan Holt as new writing specialist

Submitted by Eric Thompson

Dylan Holt, Program Writing Specialist

Dylan Holt will join Educational Supportive Services and the Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs belonging and inclusion team on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, as the new program writing specialist. Since 1972, K-State's TRIO Educational Supportive Services program has provided intensive academic and personal support for first-generation and income-limited students as well as students with documented disabilities.

The writing specialist is responsible for providing a variety of support services to help Educational Supportive Services participants attain their educational goals including coordinating programs to enhance participants' skills in writing, navigating postsecondary coursework, degree planning and preparation for graduate school admissions.

Holt is a K-State graduate both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and also is currently earning an education specialist degree in school counseling from K-State. Previous positions he's held at the university include graduate teaching instructor in the English department and admissions representative with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Holt is passionate about all things purple, and he also possesses a love for helping students become good writers.

"I am excited to have Dylan join our department," said Mirta Chavez, assistant vice president of student belonging and inclusion. "His role in supporting the academic needs of our students allows us to continue to put the goals of the next-generation land-grant into practice."
