Bandana Project open trainings

Submitted by Shawn Funk

Kansas State University has partnered with The Bandana Project to continue a national campaign to spread suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Open training sessions for students this semester are at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 28, March 28, April 9 and May 1. This semester, an open training session for faculty and staff has been added to the schedule at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.

K-State's Bandana Project workshop is tailored to help participants learn how to recognize and respond to signs of distress in their peers. Attendees will learn about resources on campus and helpful listening skills. They will also have the opportunity to join the movement and receive resource cards and a green bandana to tie onto their backpack as a show of solidarity.

The Thrive Navigators, a sponsored student organization under the leadership of Lafene Health Center and the Morrison Family Center for Student Well-being, will provide the peer-to-peer training. A member of the Morrison Family Center Student Well-being team will provide the faculty/staff training.

Register online to attend any of the open training sessions.
