Hohn named associate dean of engineering
Keith Hohn, chair and professor in the chemical, paper and biomedical engineering department at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, has been selected as associate dean for academic and administrative affairs in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering, effective July 22.
Hohn returns to K-State after nearly five years at Miami University. He initially came to Manhattan as an assistant professor in 1999 and was promoted to associate professor in 2004 and full professor in 2010, all in the Tim Taylor Department of Chemical Engineering.
He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas in 1995 and completed his doctorate in chemical engineering at the University of Minnesota in 1999.
Hohn's research focuses on heterogeneous catalysts with emphasis on energy applications, including research on natural gas conversion, hydrogen generation and the conversion of biomass-derived compounds to fuels and chemicals. He has received more than $5 million in research funding from a variety of sources throughout his career, including the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy. In 2018, he received the Frankenhoff Outstanding Research Award from the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering in recognition of his many research contributions.
Hohn will fill the position of associate dean currently held by Gary Clark, senior associate dean and professor of biological and agricultural engineering, who will enter phased retirement in June.
