Craig B. Parker honored by Society for American Music

Submitted by Craig B. Parker

Craig B. Parker, associate professor of music history in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, was honored at this year's annual Society for American Music conference in Detroit with a certificate of sincere appreciation for leading the society's brass band for 30 performances.

Parker co-founded the band in 1987 and has served as its director and solo cornetist since its first performance.

The band is composed of the society's members from throughout the U. S. and Canada. It has performed at most of the society's conferences since the band's founding, specializing in 19th-century American brass band music.
