K-State Alcohol Policies

The Alcohol Cereal Malt Beverage Policy contains the university's requirements pertaining to alcoholic beverages. Requirements regarding service shall be construed also to pertain to possession and consumption.

The Clery Act Designation and Reporting Policy is intended to document the reporting obligations for students, faculty, staff, and individuals affiliated with K-State under Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, also known as the Clery Act (Clery Act), as well as the protocol for issuing timely warnings. This federal law applies to most public and private universities, and is tied directly to federal funding of various kinds, including federal student aid.

The Student Organizations On-Campus Event Policy is intended to cover on-campus events coordinated by registered student organizations that are considered social and participatory in nature and involve pre-planning or the intention to coordinate an event on campus. The Union Program Department and Housing and Dining Services will enforce similar policies for their events that are within the framework of this policy.

Failure for registered student organizations to comply with the guidelines and expectations of this policy will result in the organization being referred to the Office of Student Activities and Services (OSAS) for possible disciplinary action.

The Lifeline 911 Policy allows students to seek immediate medical assistance for an alcohol related emergency on behalf of themselves or another person without being sanctioned for violation of any university related policy. This policy allows students to make healthy decisions by seeking medical help without the fear of punishment.

Because it is important that victims of alcohol-related emergencies receive medical treatment, Kansas State University students seeking immediate medical assistance for an alcohol-related emergency on behalf of themselves or another person will not be sanctioned for violation of any university alcohol-related policies.

The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) and subsequent legislation require an institution of higher education to provide a biennial program review of alcohol and other drug prevention programs to be eligible to receive funds or any other form of financial assistance under any Federal program, including participation in any federally funded or guaranteed student loan program. In compliance, K-State reviews its program biennially to determine its effectiveness, implement any necessary changes, and ensure that the required disciplinary sanctions are consistently enforced.
