Klugesherz December 6: Kansas State University graduate student to study food insecurity in Ireland. Miranda Klugesherz, master's student in communication studies, has been awarded a George J. Mitchell Scholarship to study in Ireland.

Boyington December 5: Kansas State University student earns Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant to study in Prague. Senior in family studies and human studies, Brook Boyington, received a Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant to study in Prague, Czech Republic.

Roger Cochrane December 2: Kansas State University student to use Endeavour Research Fellowship to study swine in Australia. Roger Cochrane, doctoral student in animal science, was awarded a 2017 Endeavour Fellowship to conduct research in Australia.

Miranda Moore - Fulbright Summer Institute September 16: Fulbright Summer Institute in London offers Kansas State University student chance to expand global mindset. Miranda Moore, sophomore in Communication Studies and Political Science, was a Fulbright Summer Institute participant at the King's College London campus for three weeks during June and July.

August 30: Kansas State University students receive scholarship to study in Germany, Australia. Two K-State students received Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarships for study abroad in 2016 and 2017. Anna Rose B. Meyer, senior in English-creative writing and German, and Gene Coker, senior in microbiology and psychology.

LeRoy Prine August 4: Kansas State University graduate earns Fulbright award to teach in Germany. LeRoy Prine, May 2016 graduate in German and Anthropology, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Grant to work as an English Teaching Assistant in Germany for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Jessica Wheeler June 22: Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship helps K-Stater pursue law degree. Jessica Wheeler, May 2016 graduate in Pre-Law Biochemistry, has been awarded a Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship for the upcoming year. The fellowship will provide $5000 in support of her first semester of law school.

Jael Whitney May 11: K-State sophomore earns honorable mention in Udall scholarship competition. Congratulations to Jael Whitney, sophomore in Marketing, for her recognition as a 2016 Udall Scholarship Honorable Mention. Only 60 scholars and 51 honorable mentions were selected nationally. The Udall funds students pursuing environmental careers and/or Native American/Native Alaskan students pursuing careers related to tribal policy or healthcare.

Jerusha Matthews April 24: Kansas State University student receives Gilman International Scholarship to study biology in Belize. Jerusha Matthews, senior in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology has been awarded a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Belize in Summer 2016. The Gilman awards up to $5000 to support undergraduates who wish to study abroad and funds study in most countries around the globe.

Alyssa Greenwood April 21: Kansas State University student from Benton receives prestigious grant to study abroad. Congratulations to Alyssa Greenwood, sophomore in Public Relations, for receiving a Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant for the upcoming year to study in Lyon, France. Only 50 of these $1,000 grants are awarded nationally each year.

Schieferecke Aaron Messerla Ortega April 18: Kansas State University students awarded Goldwater scholarship, honorable mentions. Adam Schieferecke, junior in Microbiology and Biochemistry, has been named the 73rd Goldwater Scholar from K-State. Aaron Messerla, junior in Mathematics, and Raquel Ortega, junior in Chemistry, were also recognized as Honorable Mention in the competition. The Goldwater Scholarship is the premier undergraduate award for students in engineering, math and science disciplines. It awards up to $7,500 per year to rising juniors and seniors.

Covarrubias Greenway Hill April 16: Kansas State University students earn National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. Multiple K-State students and alumni have been recognized by the National Science Foundation in their Graduate Research Fellowship competition this year. Current K-State students receiving NSF GRFP awards include Obdulia Covarrubias, doctoral student in Chemistry, Ryan Greenway, doctoral student in Biology; and Catherine Hill, doctoral student in Psychological Sciences (pictured). Alumni Cynthia Hamilton and DeeAnn Turpin, both graduates in Biological Systems Engineering, were also awarded the NSF GRFP. Alumnus Katherine Gentry, graduate in Biochemistry, was additionally recognized as Honorable Mention in the competition.

January 29: Kansas State University students receive Gilman Scholarships to study abroad. Four K-State students received Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarships for study abroad in 2016. Julia G. Chestnut, junior in anthropology, Jason Nowak Jr., junior in engineering technology, Sabrina Gragg, sophomore in fisheries and wildlife conservation biology, and Joshua Edgar, junior in history and political science.
