As a community-wide, phased effort, the applied learning imperative begins its discovery and definition with four focus areas.

• Education Abroad
• Internships
• Community-based Learning
• Undergraduate Research

Beginning in Summer 2024, the imperative team will begin strategic communication with the university community, including the Salina and Olathe campuses and online learners. This communication will target further discovery and inventory of quality applied learning experiences. Exploration will include experiences such as:

• Judging and competition teams
• Performance-based learning
• Course-based innovation challenges created with industry partners
