Snyder Leadership Legacy Fellows Application

For the 2025-26 Academic Year

The Snyder Fellows program is a year-long opportunity for students entering their final year at Kansas State University. Each spring, a select group of students is chosen to enhance their leadership knowledge, connect with mentors who help navigate the transition from student to professional, deepen their commitment to service, and gain hands-on experience to apply their leadership skills in real-world settings.

Eligibility

The minimum qualifications for Snyder Fellows are:

  • Must be entering your final year at Kansas State University.
  • Available to attend a weekend retreat during the fall semester (Friday and Saturday).
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Exhibits responsibility, a positive attitude, confidence, flexibility, and excellent communication skills.
  • Able to build positive relationships with peers, faculty, and the broader community.
    Committed to self-awareness, teamwork, and ongoing leadership development.

Time Commitment

Snyder Fellows spend approximately 3 hours per week during the fall semester, including time for coaching youth sports, one-on-one mentoring, and leadership workshops. In the spring, Fellows commit to about 5 hours per month for leadership development and related activities.

This program is ideal for two types of students:

  • Students with extensive leadership experience who are looking to further develop their skills, connect with like-minded peers, and explore deeper leadership opportunities.
  • Students with limited experience in leadership who are eager to learn more about their own leadership style, gain new insights, and build the skills necessary to become effective leaders.

Both groups will benefit from the program by enhancing their leadership capabilities, expanding their self-awareness, and gaining valuable experiences that will contribute to their personal and professional growth

Timeline

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 12
  • Interview Offers: Sent via email no later than Friday, Feb. 14
  • Interviews: 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, and 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27
  • Offers to be in the Program: Sent via email Friday, March 7
  • Applicant Deadline to Accept Offers: Wednesday, March 12

Fall Retreat

The retreat date is dependent on the football schedule, with past retreats typically occurring on the 2nd or 3rd weekend in September.

The retreat will take place from Friday, 5- 9 p.m., and continue on Saturday from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
