The Developing Scholars Program (DSP) offers high-achieving underrepresented students the chance to participate in research projects with Kansas State University faculty members. Scholars will receive academic, social and financial support while becoming integrated into the intellectual climate of the university.

Who should apply?
Any student interested in conducting research with a K-State faculty member in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) field who has a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Additionally, students who are transferring to K-State from one of the KS-LSAMP partner institutions listed below are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Donnelly College
- Garden City Community College
- Seward County Community College
What is the time commitment?
Students are expected to be in the lab between 6-10 hours per week. This may include meetings with your mentor, literature searches, conducting experiments, studying and analyzing results, writing about your findings, and other appropriate activities.
Are there any additional classes I have to take?
Yes, there is a 1-credit hour course, DSP seminar that you have to sign up for. You enroll in the credits just like any other course, and it counts as elective credit toward graduation. Also, KS-LSAMP students will be required to participate in a monthly LSAMP seminar. This seminar class is not for credit, but is a requirement of the KS-LSAMP supported DSP students.
Will I get paid for my time in the lab?
Yes, students will receive a stipend of $1,250 per semester to participate in the KS-LSAMP supported Developing Scholars position.
Students who have applied to or have participated in the KS-LSAMP summer program, Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM (RiPS), are also encouraged to apply to KS-LSAMP supported DSP positions.
