Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies
The 120 credit hour undergraduate degree in communication studies is designed to build skills and perspectives in communication that will help graduates be forward-thinking, culturally competent, and ethical partners and leaders.
- Personalize the degree by pursuing two specializations, as well as a minor or certificate.
- Complete courses in the winter and summer, in person and online, to earn a degree quickly.
In addition to the 42 credit hours listed below, each student is required to complete K-State Core requirements and requirements for their choice of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, adding up to a total of 120 credit hours.
Innovation and Creation
Writing and content creation skills are a must for successful careers. The coursework in this area develops skills in a range of writing and content creation platforms. Majors must complete a total of 4 credit hours in this area.

Foundations of Communication
Communication shapes every part of our lives, from our selves to our relationships to our workplaces and societies. The courses in this area provide students the foundation for understanding the impact and importance of communication processes and practices. Majors must complete a total of 13 credit hours in this area.

Methods
Information and data literacy is foundational to making good decisions in different situations. Methods courses develop skills and perspectives in gathering, interpreting, and using data. Students must take one methods course from the set of courses below.

Specializations
Because communication is applicable to so many different areas, specializations provide focus areas for students to dive deeper into specific areas. Each specialization consists of 12 credit hours. Majors must complete 21-24 hours of coursework across two specializations, with one course being able to count across two specializations.

Application/Capstone
It is important to apply communication theories and skills in a real-world setting. Students can choose to fulfill the Application/Capstone requirement in a way that best suits their interests and goals.
