Biographical Information

Chase graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Communication Studies from Kansas State University. They are currently a graduate student in the M.A. Communication Studies program. Chase is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Instructor of K-State’s public speaking courses. Currently, they serve as the Graduate Assistant for Graduate Programs and Research as well as the Liaison for all graduate students of the A.Q. Miller School to represent their needs and interests across its various programs and initiatives.


Research

Chase’s research is primarily focused on rhetorical approaches to far-right discourses online as well as current developments in intercultural, democratic pedagogies for teaching and learning in higher education. Most recently, Chase presented their work at the 2023 Western States Communication Association Conference, and they have been accepted to present in the upcoming 2024 National Communication Association Convention in New Orleans, LA.


Career

Chase is committed to the practice of social justice and transformation through education. They have been teaching/coaching public speaking, facilitation, and communication with a variety of organizations, including K-State Research and Extension, Kansas 4-H, and the Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy.

Chase also serves as the Chair of Curriculum & Instruction on the Board of Directors for UFM Community Learning Center, a local educational non-profit organization based in Manhattan, Kansas. Like UFM, Chase believes that anyone can teach, and anyone can learn. Upon completion of their Master’s Degree, Chase wishes to continue their service as a university instructor of communication studies.
