Biographical Information
Dawson graduated with a B.S. in Mass Communication Studies from K-State. He is currently a graduate student in the M.S. Mass Communication Studies program. Dawson is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Instructor of K-State’s public speaking courses, video production essentials class, and channel 8 news production course. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Chief Operator of Wildcat 91.9 and assists in teaching MC 165 KSDB-FM.
Research
Dawson’s research is primarily focused on emerging technologies and the broadcast industry. He has won over a dozen awards for his work at the 2023 Kansas Association of Broadcasters Awards and was recognized for his News Feature Story of the Year at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System in 2023. Recently, Dawson placed 1st at the Broadcast Education Association awards for 2024 where he was recognized for his long sports feature story.
Dawson strives to help change the world through storytelling and sharing experiences that will positively influence future generations. He teaches public speaking, flies Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and teaches students about the radio/TV broadcast industry.
Dawson also flies commercially for his drone business, Wagnair Media, which is based in Manhattan, Kansas. Dawson believes that providing new angles/views of a story can provide context that can help educate and build knowledge for future generations to see and understand better. Upon completing his Master’s Degree, Dawson wishes to continue his service as a university instructor of communication studies.
