Biographical Information

Kate Williamson started her career in Events and Marketing in Hawaii over 15 years ago. While living in Hawaii, she worked with clients like the NFL, Mont Blanc, Chanel, Comic Con Hawaii, and more. While working full-time during the pandemic, Williamson graduated from the University of Phoenix with her B.S. in Communication Studies. She is currently a graduate student in the M.A. Mass Communications online program. Williamson also volunteers for Fort Riley as a special events planner and social media consultant. Williamson’s unique career in Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Kansas allows her to bring real-world experience into her research and education at K-State. She enjoys spending her free time with her dogs and her army husband.


Career

Williamson has curated a career in Events and Social Media marketing that has allowed her to work all over the world for 15 years. She started working in radio for Salem Media of Hawaii. Williamson worked in radio, television, newspapers, and digital marketing in Hawaii before moving to Kansas. She returned to working in Events when she was offered a position at K-State as an Event Coordinator for the College of Arts and Sciences.

She is now the Event Coordinator and Communications Specialist for the IGP Institute at K-State and is passionate about being a mentor for student workers at IGP.
