Biographical Information
Trevor graduated with a Master of Architecture from K-State. He is currently a graduate student in the Master of Communication Studies program. Trevor is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Instructor of K-State’s Public Speaking courses. Currently, he serves as a Graduate Coaching Assistant for the K-State Debate team helping college debaters reach high levels of competitive success.
Research
Trevor’s research interests lie in the intersection of Black studies, visual analysis, and design theory. He takes a critical-rhetorical approach to the designed environment that allows for an analysis of a vast array of sociological impacts and effects.
Career
Trevor believes in the understated importance of rhetoric and communication on marginalized populations – and analyzes through an evaluation of language and visual signifiers. Trevor coauthored Presumption, Performance, and Praxis: Reclaiming Debate as a Site of Freedom, which won “Top Paper” in the Cross-Examination Debate Association division of the 2023 National Communication Association conference and is now pending publication.
Trevor was a competitor on the K-State Debate team while earning his previous degree. During his time competing on the team, he was a three-time National Debate Tournament qualifier and Cross-Examination Debate Association National octafinalist. His argumentation often included alternative modes of debating, utilizing visual artworks, music, and fictional novels.
Upon the completion of his Master of Communication Studies, Trevor hopes to continue a career of research and instruction within academia.
