MANHATTAN — Kansas State University financial planning students have earned three of the 12 NextGen RIA Scholarships awarded by TD Ameritrade Institutional this year, marking the fifth time in the last seven years that at least one K-State student has received the competitive scholarship.

Claire Herrmann, senior, Olathe; Olivia Stingo, junior, Wichita; and Anabelle Sanko, senior, Holdrege, Nebraska, have each received the $5,000 scholarship, which is awarded by TD Ameritrade Institutional to help the industry attract a new, more diverse generation of talent and alleviate a looming shortage of financial advisors, as more than 100,000 registered investment advisors prepare to retire.

"We are proud of Claire, Anabelle and Olivia for receiving this highly competitive scholarship," said Martin Seay, head of K-State's personal financial planning department.
