K-State welcomes renowned scholar Rodolphe Barrangou for distinguished lecture

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University's newly reimagined President's Distinguished Lecture Series will host its inaugural lecture featuring Rodolphe Barrangou, T.R. Klaenhammer distinguished professor at North Carolina State University, on Tuesday, April 8, bringing world-class intellectual discourse to the K-State campus.
Barrangou will present "Insights from the Genome Editing Revolution" at 4 p.m. in Regnier Forum of Regnier Hall on K-State's Manhattan campus. As part of the university's Next-Gen K-State vision, this event underscores K-State's dedication to advancing academic innovation and bringing transformative scholarship to its campus and the broader community. Admission to the lecture is free and open to the public.
"Dr. Barrangou embodies the pinnacle of scholarly achievement," said President Richard Linton. "His lecture will share cutting-edge insights and inspire our students, faculty and community to push the boundaries of knowledge and discovery."
Barrangou is a globally recognized scholar whose work has significantly contributed to the CRISPR Lab at North Carolina State University. His international awards include the Canada Gairdner International Award, and he has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Inventors. Barrangou is a co-founder of Intellia Therapeutics, Locus Biosciences, TreeCo, Ancilia Biosciences and CRISPR Biotechnologies, an advisor to Inari, and the IGI and editor-in-chief of the CRISPR Journal.
This lecture is part of K-State's ongoing President's Distinguished Lecture Series, which brings world-renowned scholars to campus to share their knowledge, insights and research. The series advances the university's mission of inspiring learning, creativity, discovery and engagement that positively impacts society. The President's Distinguished Lecture Series is managed and administered by the University Distinguished Professors.
In addition to the President's Distinguished Lecture Series presentation, Barrangou will also offer a technical lecture, "The CRISPR Toolbox and Its Many Applications in Microbiology," to the university community at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, in 1014 Throckmorton Hall Room.
