SALINA — How citizens get their news and information seems to be constantly changing as technology improves and becomes more accessible. But what does the future hold for new media and does anyone care about privacy and courtesy for its audience?

"Technology, Civility and News: Where Are We Headed?" will address those questions and more. It will be presented at noon Thursday, April 10, at Kansas State University Salina in the College Center conference room.

The discussion is the final presentation in this semester's Civic Luncheon Lecture Series — an event intended to not only inform the community of various social issues affecting society, but to also encourage opinions and ideas.

The discussion will be led by a panel of local media, featuring Ben Wearing, executive editor of the Salina Journal; Matt Moody, the founder and digital media director of the Salina Post; and Paul Green, faculty member and media production manager at Kansas Wesleyan University. Bryan Thompson, a reporter for Kansas Public Radio, will moderate.

"The lineup for this panel is very special because each member has seen his career field change right before his eyes, and each has had to adapt accordingly," said Greg Stephens, lecture series director and associate professor of arts, sciences and business at K-State Salina. "I hope the audience will not only enjoy learning about the constant progression of technology, but will feel inclined to give their opinion about the civility side, too."

The Civic Luncheon Lecture is free and the public is invited. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch or purchase their lunch at the K-State Café and bring their tray into the conference room. For those who cannot attend, it will stream live on Access TV.
