16TH ANNUAL BRIDGE DESIGN WORKSHOP OCT. 9 AT K-STATE
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's 16th annual Bridge Design Workshop, "New Trends in Concrete Bridges," will be Friday, Oct. 9, at the K-State Student Union.
The workshop is ideal for professional engineers, engineers-in-training, contractors and engineering technicians involved in bridge fabrication and construction, bridge design and bridge rating and inspection.
The workshop will review current issues related to prestressed concrete bridges and recent research on bond and development length of rebars and strands in prestressed and self-consolidating concrete. It also will address the new specifications for bridge field erection, preparation of erection plans, bracing principles, fit-up details and girder transportation. The erection of both steel and prestressed concrete girders and lessons learned from past bridge collapse experiences will be discussed as well. In addition, information about available resources from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Federal Highway Administration and the Kansas Department of Transportation will be given.
More information and registration are available online at http://www.dce.k-state.edu/conf/bridgedesign or by calling the K-State Division of Continuing Education's conference registration office at 785-532-5569.
