YouTube sensation: Acoustic guitarist Andy McKee featured in McCain Performance Series at Forum Hall
MANHATTAN -- A native Topekan known as one of the world's top acoustic guitarists will be the performer when Kansas State University's McCain Performance Series takes a short road trip -- from McCain Auditorium to the K-State Student Union.
Andy McKee, whose YouTube videos have been viewed by multimillions, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Union's Forum Hall.
McKee, who still lives in Topeka, is known for his use of altered tunings, partial capos, percussive hits and tapping with his performances on the steel string acoustical guitar. He performs 100 to 200 shows annually across the world, and his videos have held the first, second and third positions in YouTube's top-rated videos of all time. He recently returned from Australia, where he performed on stage with Prince.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting at $13 for Kansas State University students and $26 for the general public. Discounts for K-State faculty and staff, military and children are also available. They can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, or by calling 785-532-6428. Tickets also can be purchased online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain.
