Get in the swing, Texas-style: County great Lyle Lovett kicks off McCain Performance Series on Aug. 26
MANHATTAN -- A Grammy-winning singer and songwriter who has been called "a star as big as Texas itself" will open Kansas State University's 2012-2013 McCain Performance Series.
Lyle Lovett and His Large Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, in McCain Auditorium.
Lovett's distinctive music blends Texas swing, folk, blues, jazz, gospel and country-western with wit and wisdom. A four-time Grammy winner, he has sold more than 4 million records and counting. His work includes such well-known hits as "If I Had a Boat," "Nobody Knows Me," "South Texas Girl," "She's No Lady," "Baby Don't Tolerate," "In My Own Mind" and many more.
His latest album -- his 15th -- is "Release Me" and features 14 covers that highlight the many genres he performs.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting at $27.50 for K-State students and $55 for the general public. Discounts for K-State faculty and staff, military and children are also available.
