MANHATTAN -- The 2013 Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson will have a decidedly purple hue with the first Sunday of the fair designated as K-State Day. The university will be recognized as the official sponsor on Sept. 8 as the fair celebrates its 100th birthday.
Special outdoor exhibits will be set up near Lake Talbott Stage from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to share college and department information with visitors, including recognition of the university's 150th celebration and K-State's goal to become a Top 50 public research university by 2025.
Performances on the stage will showcase university musical and dance groups from noon to 6:30 p.m. Pep rallies at noon and 6 p.m. will feature members of the K-State Marching Band, Willie the Wildcat and cheerleaders. K-State's three championship trophies from the 2012-2013 athletics season will be in the outdoor exhibits area for viewing and photos, and merchandise also will be available for purchase.
