Time to shine: K-State students participate in fall commencement with talents, speeches
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's fall commencement ceremonies will be highlighted by personal touches from its own students. During the ceremonies Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10, several students will speak or perform for their classmates, families and administrators.
The students include:
* Jordan Tonn, senior in elementary education, Hutchinson, will provide the reflections address at commencement for the College of Education.
* Jena Swanson, senior in family studies and human services, Leon, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at commencement for the College of Human Ecology.
* John Allred, senior in applied music, Manhattan, will perform the processional, alma mater and recessional on the horn as part of the Student Woodwind Quintet at commencement for the College of Engineering.
* Janie Brokenicky, graduate student in music, Manhattan, will sing the national anthem at commencement for the Graduate School.
* Jana Krajciova, graduate student in music, Manhattan, will perform the processional and recessional at commencements for the Graduate School and the College of Business Administration.
* Kelley Tracz, junior in applied music, Manhattan, will perform the processional, alma mater and recessional on the oboe as part of the Student Woodwind Quintet at commencement for the College of Engineering.
* Jared Johnson, senior in professional pilot, Olathe, will serve as the student marshal at commencement for Kansas State University at Salina. Johnson is a graduate of Olathe South High School.
* Laura Geiger, senior in architectural engineering, Overland Park, will provide the challenge to the graduates at commencement for the College of Engineering.
* Laura White, senior in civil engineering, Overland Park, will sing the national anthem at commencement for the College of Engineering.
* Brett Cooper, senior in information technology, Salina, will give the student address at commencement for Kansas State University at Salina.
* Ariana Stavropoulos, senior in elementary education, Salina, will sing the national anthem at commencement for the College of Education.
* Marcus Grimes, freshman in music education, Shawnee, will perform the processional, alma mater and recessional on the bassoon as part of the Student Woodwind Quintet for the College of Engineering commencement ceremony.
* Jenny Good, senior in music education, Topeka, will perform the processional, alma mater and recessional on the flute as part of the Student Woodwind Quintet at commencement for the College of Engineering.
* Matthew Patton, senior in applied music, Topeka, will sing the national anthem at commencement for the College of Arts and Sciences.
* Charissa Dugan, senior in accounting and finance, Wichita, will give the student remarks at commencement for the College of Business Administration.
* Amanda Hogue, senior in hotel and restaurant management, Wichita, will provide the student speech and reflections at commencement for the College of Human Ecology.
* Jordan Profita, junior in music, Wichita, will perform the processional, alma mater and recessional on the clarinet as part of the Student Woodwind Quintet at commencement for the College of Engineering.
