MANHATTAN -- Pellom McDaniels III, an assistant professor of history and American studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, will present a lecture at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Kansas State University.
McDaniels' lecture, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theater, is in conjunction with his exhibition, "They Came to Fight," on display through Feb. 19 in the Union's Kemper Art Gallery. The exhibition includes first-edition books, photo postcards and photo reproductions depicting the role of African-Americans in the World War I. A reception for McDaniels will follow his lecture and be in the art gallery. Both events are free and open to the public.
