Serving up success: Housing and dining services' assistant director receives Silver Plate Award
MANHATTAN -- A Kansas State University staff member will receive of the food service industry's most prestigious honors.
Mary Molt, assistant director of housing and dining services, has been named a recipient of a 2012 Silver Plate Award from the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, or IFMA. A Silver Plate recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation in the industry.
"It is quite an honor for Mary to be selected with one of the highest awards possible in the food service industry," said Derek Jackson, director of housing and dining services at K-State. "I personally know how hard Mary has worked over the years to provide K-State students with the highest quality dining service possible. We are very fortunate to have someone with her expertise caring for our students and dining operation."
Molt will be recognized at the 58th annual Gold and Silver Plate Awards Celebration, May 7, at the Great Hall at Union Station in Chicago, Ill.
Molt is the second K-State recipient of the Silver Plate Award in the association's 56-year history. Along with previous university winner John Pence, associate director of dining services, her Silver Plate Award positions K-State as a gold standard in food service leadership among industry members.
"Mary has dedicated her entire professional career to college and university dining services at Kansas State University," Pence said. "She is considered an expert in her field of food quality, quantity food production and food service systems."
Winners were selected by a jury of past Gold and Silver Plate winners, the chair of the International Gold and Silver Plate Society, national trade press editors and other food service experts. Nine industry members were selected to receive a Silver Plate Award this year.
