MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will present Mozart's comic opera "The Marriage of Figaro" at 7:30 p.m. March 7-9 in McCain Auditorium.

"The Marriage of Figaro"continues playwright Beaumarchais' tale from "The Barber of Seville." The Count is now married to Rosine, but their marriage has gone sour because of his philandering. Figaro has quit barbering and is now the Count's manservant. He is engaged to Suzanne, who is Countess Rosine's maid -- and the Count's intended conquest.

Old Bartolo is back to seek revenge on Figaro for thwarting his plans to marry Rosine, and he enlists the help of the slimy music master Don Bazile. Adding to the fun are an amorous teenager, a scheming old maid, a drunken gardener and a silly young girl. It all makes for a single "folle journee" -- a crazy day.

Reginald Pittman, professor of music, is director for "The Marriage of Figaro." Set design is by Kathy Voecks, associate professor of theatre; costume design is by Dana Pinkston, associate professor of theatre; and lighting design is by John Uthoff, associate professor of theatre. Devan Castle, Manhattan, is in charge of sound design.

Tickets are $16 for the general public, $14 for seniors and military, and $10 for students, plus applicable taxes and fees.
