Ebony Theatre presenting powerful one-act drama 'Dutchman'

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University's Ebony Theatre will present "Dutchman" at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25-27 at the Purple Masque Theatre in West Stadium.
On an intense subway ride in New York City, a white woman and African-American man are drawn together in a conversation full of bias and assumption. Through a shocking series of events, the provocative play displays the depth and intensity of prejudice as it reveals the twisted standards of American culture. Written by Amiri Baraka, "Dutchman" continues to spark conversation more than 50 years after its initial production.
"Dutchman" is directed by Danielle Levings, master's student in theatre, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and sponsored by Ebony Theatre and the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
Tickets are $8 for adults; $7 for faculty/staff, military and seniors; and $5 for students and youth, plus tax and applicable fees. Tickets can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by phone at 785-532-6428.
