K-State Global Campus increases scholarship offerings for spring semester

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University Global Campus has awarded 42 scholarships totaling $36,150 to degree-seeking distance students from across the U.S. and Canada for the spring 2016 semester.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of K-State Global Campus extending the university's educational resources to students and professionals throughout the state, nation and the world. Part of that effort includes providing increased scholarship opportunities for part-time, place-bound students who are not eligible for a large majority of scholarships often geared toward full-time traditional students starting college right after high school.
Scholarships awarded for spring semester include the K-State Global Campus Scholarship for Distance Education Students, Maurine Allison O'Bannon Memorial Scholarship, EdAssist Scholarship, scholarships in collaboration with the university's colleges and departments, and a new Military Spouse Scholarship with its first recipients receiving awards this spring.
The $1,000 Military Spouse Scholarship is available each spring and fall semester to military spouses who are registered through the National Military Family Association. Georgia Biggs, junior in animal sciences and industry, Dallas, Georgia, said being one of the first recipients of the scholarship made it possible for her to enroll in another semester at Kansas State University.
"I moved to Oceanside, California, to be with my husband who is currently stationed on Camp Pendleton," Biggs said. "Being able to go back to school has given me a huge comfort and sense of normality. Education has always been something I have been passionate about, and K-State made it easy for me to continue."
