TOUR OF DAYLILY DISPLAY GARDEN NEXT IN K-STATE GARDENS LUNCHEON SERIES
MANHATTAN -- The 2010 Kansas State University Gardens Luncheon Series continues Thursday, July 8, with a tour of Mateo Tipi Gardens, the more-than-600 daylily collection of Steve and Maureen Thien, Manhattan. Their home has been honored nationally as an American Hemerocallis Society Display Garden.
"July is the peak blooming time for daylilies, and the Thien display garden should be in full splendor," said Judy Unruh, series coordinator for the K-State Friends of the Gardens board of directors.
The Thiens will share tips on growing daylilies. People who attend the luncheon will see many prize-winning hybrids.
The garden luncheon and tour at 3400 Windsor Court begins at 11:45 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Admission is $25 per person, payable upon registration. This includes lunch, the tour and the garden lesson. Net proceeds from the series support special projects at the K-State Gardens. Registrants are asked to bring a lawn chair.
The deadline to register is Tuesday, July 6.
